I'm new to this

I thought I'd try out blogging. It seems everyone's doing it these days, and it looks like fun! A great way to record life's memories and reflect on the choices we're making.

So what's "ripples of motherhood" all about? It's about the little things. The little things that (I'm hoping) will add up and make a big difference in my children's life. Like trying to eat as much organic food as possible. Like using cloth diapers. Breastfeeding. Making the choices that feel right for us in the moment. Even if I "tweak" them later on, or do a complete 360.

It's not about regret, or guilt. It's about recognizing that we, as mothers, as parents, do the best we can. And we should be proud of that.

It's also about recognizing that different people make very different choices in how they raise their children, and that's a GOOD thing! What would society be like if we were all raised exactly the same? Boring! And probably not very successful either. We would all be doctors (or teachers... or farmers... or unemployed) and then what? Who would be our patients (or students... or buyers... or taxpayers)?

So... my goals in writing this blog are to feel proud of my own choices, celebrate the choices of others, and hopefully laugh (and maybe even cry) a bit. Wish me luck!
